DJ Gunner’s Singing
Tips You can be assured that I use the best karaoke and sound equipment so you can sound your best.
The very best in wireless and wired microphones: Audix, Sennheiser, Shure and Vocopro The very best in sound processing:
DBX Driverack PA for sound shaping, feedback elimination, compression and limiting.
When I run a Karaoke Show I try to do karaoke like we are "IN CONCERT". I want to turn each and every singer’s volume up as high as
I can so they can fully project their song to the audience. In order to mix you the best I can, these few things need to be
considered. How loud can you project your voice naturally without distortion
or strain? Some folks sing louder than others. If you are someone that does not have a loud singing voice, then you must get
very close to the microphone. I try to turn the mic level up to compensate, but then I get into "feedback" issues
between the mic and the speakers. Small spaces and steel buildings will produce more feedback than large wood/plaster type
buildings. Stay away from the speaker with the microphone (mid stage is best). Sing directly into the Mic & keep you’re your hand off the screen to avoid muffling your voice and
keeping feedback from being a part of your performance. Adjust the distance between your
mouth and the microphone to achieve the level of sound projection you desire. If you get too loud, I may have to turn your
mic down. Put a lemon in your drink, Sprite or 7-up (clear soda). Your singing voice should
improve and throat will be clearer. Try to know the song before
you sing it in front of a large crowd. When nights are slow, practice those songs you do not know well. If
in your home or car, you can practice a song by putting a finger in your ear or covering with your hand. The first time you
try this, you will not sound good to yourself at first, but you will get better. You may have to listen to a song 10 to 20
times before you know all the ups, downs, special tones, etc before singing it before a crowd. (TIP: sometimes just knowing when to take deep breaths through out the song
improves your song performance drastically, this is where the repeated song practice comes into play. Breath control is very
important. The artist Meatloaf can attest to this) Listen to yourself while performing, I
always turn a speaker enough for you to hear (monitor) how you are sounding Listen

the more alcohol you drink, the worse you sound to the crowd. You may sound great to yourself!!! Leave them wanting more (a show business term) If you can not top an out standing performance the same night,
do not sing again that night. Relax, no really, relax and you will sing much
better. Yes, easier said than done. Do not criticize singers, clap and cheer for everyone. Do not criticize singers, clap and cheer for everyone. Relax,

to your voice and style. HAVE FUN………..
Please note: Some of the above text is repeated, sorry about that, I am working on a fix for this problem.
The TIPS do work though!
